Bloomington Media Arts Group (BMAG)

VOTER WORK

DESCRIPTION

BMAG is a community media organization serving Indiana University and Bloomington, Indiana. We are a group of students and area residents utilizing the media arts as tools for local activism, civic engagement, and community development.

Our volunteers work with audio, video, print, and the web to create content for a variety of existing local media, as well as our own original publications.

By focusing on media as tools for local activism, we aim to:

* Encourage public dialogue
* Celebrate local arts and culture
* Develop new campus/community relationships
* Support grassroots media production of all kinds
* Highlight the work of student and community groups
* Promote communicative democracy and civic engagement

The reporters at BMAG are everyday students and citizens, covering the stories and events that matter to them. Learn to record and edit audio and video, write newspaper articles, book a rock concert, organize events and more. No experience required. BMAG will provide a friendly, "do-it-yourself" atmosphere where everyone can share their knowledge and skills to create a diverse chorus of independent voices.
