Native Vote 2004: Learning from 2004 and Preparing for the Future

Description

On December 11 and 12, 2005, the National Congress of American Indians, along with National Voice, hosted a post-election debriefing for Native Vote project coordinators and organizers. Approximately fifty project leads from throughout Indian country attended the debriefing. These project leads came from tribal, statewide, non-profit, partisan, and national initiatives. The focus of this meeting was to discuss the outcome of the Native Vote projects in Indian country, brainstorm on how to make Native Vote more successful in 2006 and 2008, and compile specific recommendations for the NCAI Tribal Leadership to ensure NCAI Native Vote meets the needs of the projects in Indian country. It is important to note that NCAI convened these project leads so that the Tribal Leadership will know how to build on our efforts in the Native Vote 2004 campaign, keeping in mind that 2004 was the inaugural year for NCAI’s Native Vote campaign.
